SYBASE AND ITS CUSTOMERS NOMINATED FOR COMPUTERWORLD SMITHSONIAN AWARD

Sybase MobiCATS™ Solution Nominated by SAP; 29 Sybase Customers Also Recognized

Emeryville, CA, March 6, 2000 - Sybase, Inc., (NASD: SYBS) today announced that the company and 29 of its customers have been nominated for the Computerworld Smithsonian Award and are in the Computerworld Smithsonian Collection. Case studies of the solutions built with Sybase® technology will become part of the Permanent Research Collection on Information Technology at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. Since 1991, 185 Sybase customers have been nominated for the Computerworld Smithsonian Awards, including 16 finalists and three category winners.
